It\’s an old English technique used on workers\’ shoes to allow water to drain from the shoe through punctured holes forming a pattern along the edges and a medallion on the front of the shoe. The perforations create the brogue’s detail. At our workshop in Antigua, our cobblers use a custom-made tool to make the holes and create the pattern by hand. Not only is this a beautiful technique for shoe collectors, but for us is another tradition worth preserving
